SUAREZ MAKES LA LIGA TEAM

Atletico Madrid attacker Luis Suarez has been named on the La Liga Team of the Week for the last set of league matches in the Spanish top flight. The ex-Ajax Amsterdam and Liverpool hitman was named in the La Liga Team of the Week for Matchday 17 games played at the weekend.


He was rewarded for scoring the winning goal as Atletico Madrid beat 10-man Elche 2-1 away from home. His goal came late in the game after hosts thought they had shared the points with a late equaliser. According to the list revealed by footballcritic, Luis Suarez made it alongside Atletico Madrid skipper Koke. Luis Suarez was awarded 8.0, while midfielderKoke had 8.5. Luis Suarez has now scored nine goals in just 12 league outings for his new club. His winning goal maintained the two-point advantage that leaders Atletico Madrid have over city rivals and nearest challengers Real Madrid. Atletico Madrid have two games in hand and a win in those two games will see them move eight points clear of Real Madrid who are the defending champions.

SIMEONE DEFENDS SUAREZ AFTER UCL ACTION

 

Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone has defended two of his players for reacting angrily to being substituted during the Champions League match with hosts Red Bull Salzburg of Austria in Group A. It was an important game with the two teams battling to qualify for the last 16 of the competition. In what was the final group game for the two teams, Atletico Madrid secured their spot in the next round ahead of their opponents with a 2-0 away win courtesy the goals from Mario Hermoso and Yannick-Ferreira Carrasco either side of the break.


During the game, Luis Suarez and Saul Niguez reacted angrily after they were substituted shortly after the hour mark. Angel Correa and Hector Herrera came on for Luis Suarez and Saul Niguez respectively on 64 minutes with the game in the balance as Red Bull Salzburg laid siege on the Atletico Madrid goal in search of an equaliser at that point after defender Hermoso had scored his first Atletico Madrid goal in the first half. Stephen Warnock urges Tottenham Hotspur to land Luis Suarez

 

Former Premier League ace Stephen Warnock has urged Tottenham Hotspur to make the move for Luis Suarez, who could be available on a free transfer from Barcelona. The Uruguay international has been deemed surplus to requirements after the arrival of manager Ronald Koeman and the Blaugrana are open to terminating his contract which expires next summer.


Earlier this month, it was claimed that Suarez could make the switch to Juventus, but the move appears unlikely to happen with the former Liverpool man not keen on heading to the Serie A. Speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live, Warnock has now urged Spurs to move for the services of Suarez, who has prior Premier League experience.

Suarez wants to finish off the season well and focus on Champions League

 

Luis Suarez has conceded the title to their arch-rivals Real Madrid saying that winning the title was impossible. Real Madrid has long ago secured the lead and with Barca failing to secure any more wins has led the title to slip away. When the league resumed Barca was the one leading the table but with the absence of wins, they were pushed down the league table.


Last week Barca still had a chance to win the league as they were left with the two matches to play. The match against Osasuna was their last chance left on the title but with defeat for 2–1 led them more astray from the league title. Messi wasn’t happy about the defeat and he has shown his frustration on how the team has been slacking off.

Luis Suarez ready to come back from knee injury

 

Luiz Suarez is ready to be back on the pitch after the knee surgery. La Liga will be resuming next week and the clubs are back to training. The team doctors have agreed that he is fit to play when the league resumes. He had the surgery on January and it was anticipated that he will be missing out the whole 2019–2020 season. But with the advent of COVID 19 pandemic,the season was suspended from March. As he is now recovered from the injury, he will be playing for Barca in the remaining session of the season.

Barca will be playing their first match against Mallorca on June 13. He played his last match against Atletico Madrid in Supercopa de Espana where they were defeated. Suarez is happy of his return and is more than glad to play for the team. There are 11 remaining matches left in the league and he is ready to play after the four months of injury break.
