BARCELONA: LUIS SUAREZ NOT ON THE MARKET

La Liga champions Barcelona have said that their star striker Luis Suarez is not on the market as several reports have been linking him with a return to England.

Manchester United are the leading side touted to get the Uruguayan, especially with woes in the front attack line. Since the goal drought of main striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic, United have gone winless in games. Suarez is one of the few strikers that is known would make instant impact if he agrees to the move, hence the link to solve Jose Mourinho’s problems in his first year at Old Trafford.

The Catalan side have ruled out the possibility of Suarez ever leaving the club in the nearest future. Rather, they are keen on the former Liverpool star signing a new deal that could see him end his career at the Nou Camp.

Liverpool are another side that is being rumoured to be interested in signing the former Ajax forward. The 29-year old has quickly established himself in Spain since moving there two seasons ago. He has formed a formidable partnership with other top stars Lionel Messi and Neymar. They are fondly dubbed “MSN.”

The club’s president, Josep Maria Bartomeu said to Sky Sports:

“We read, we listen, we see this news, but of course, our interest in this particular case is that Luis Suarez is happy at Barcelona. For me, he is probably the best striker in Europe and we want him to be with us.

“Right now, we are trying to extend his contract with Barcelona and he is one of our big future efforts because he is still young, he has a vision, a lot of ambition. He is happy at Barcelona and together with Lionel Messi and Neymar, they are really very dangerous.”
